Individual and joint presentations
It is a new element among the Gallery’s interests, which has been keeping in touch more and more intensively with many European centres and artists, increasingly exporting its exhibitions and importing foreign ones.
The Gallery’s main job is to popularize contemporary art knowledge through art exhibitions and other activities within the Gallery and in other enclosures in Legnica (Helena Modrzejewska Theatre, Legnica Culture Centre), as well as in the open air.
We organize individual and joint exhibitions, thematic and problem ones, by renowned artists and beginners – but always professional.
The exhibitions are interchanged every 3-4 weeks (quite often a few of them are presented simultaneously). The Gallery organizes dozens of exhibitions on various scale and essentiality.
In addition to exhibitions, happenings and multimedia art shows are organized as well. The Gallery collects the works of contemporary art within limited scope which stems from its exhibitory specialization and content-related priorities.
The Gallery owns:
§ Post-location collection of painting by artists from Poland and the former communist bloc, including several hundred of works, currently supplemented with painting by members of All-Polish Review of Young Painting PROMOTIONS, which is organized by the Gallery
§ collection of works by local artists from the area of Legnica and Copper Basin (former Legnica Voivodeship)
§ collection of jewellery constituting a nucleus of the International Jewellery Collection
PUBLISHING ACTIVITY
The Gallery’s publications are closely connected to the executed exhibition programme. They include: catalogues, leaflets, brochures, posters, placards, contest regulations, invitations and handbills. These publications are to promote art and artists, as wells as the Gallery itself, the city of Legnica (indirectly); they also help to make the activities attractive and to build institutional and public prestige. Above all, they document the work of the Gallery and artists.
OTHER FORMS OF ACTIVITY
Art exhibitions are often accompanied by music events (concerts, recitals), fashion and jewellery shows.
The Gallery is also engaged in charity auctions in support of the disabled and children.
