The history of Exhibition of the Copper Region began in 1970, when on the initiative of Castle Groupunder the aegis of a notable painter, professor Bronisław Chyła the first exhibition titled Legnica Contemporary Art was organized in the Gallery of Art.
The exhibitions, traditionally dominated by painting, are the great opportunity to present the works of the artists connected to CopperBasin. They combine an artistic review with a competition and although not organized at regular year-long intervals, they comprise an important event in the cultural life of copper cities and both competitors and the audience take a growing interest in them. As a matter of fact, they prove that individuality and originality, which generate a plurality of styles, trends and formal searches, can develop even in local circles.
